VANOS S.A. was the proud organizer of the 1st International Conference on Extreme Hazards & CBRNe/HAZMAT Operations held on February 15, 2024, at the Piraeus Marine Club in Athens.
The full-day conference brought together leading experts from all over the world to explore operations in extreme-risk environments and was attended by representatives from the Armed Forces, Security Forces, and Civil Protection. A distinguished lineup of keynote speakers, experts, and panelists shared their insights, experiences, and cutting-edge research.
The event was divided into three sessions: “Extreme Hazards, immediate and long-term effects”, “CBRNe operations–In field Detection, Protection, and Elimination”, and “Dry Decontamination, what is it, how it works, where it is implemented”. Each session was followed by interesting and fruitful discussions.
The EU-funded project “TeamUP”, in which VANOS S.A. actively participates, was also presented during the conference, highlighting its innovative approach to address CBRNe incidents through its groundbreaking solutions for triage, detection, identification, monitoring (DIM), search and rescue (SAR), decontamination (Decon) and other aspects of a CBRNe operation in extreme-risk environments.
As Mrs Aikaterini D. Vanou, President & CEO of VANOS S.A. stated: “The conference’s theme reflected our shared commitment to exploring innovative strategies, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration in hazard management and response operations. It is a call to action, a call for collective vigilance, and a pledge to fortify our capabilities in the face of unprecedented challenges”.
We would like to express our warmest gratitude to our esteemed speakers who traveled across the globe to support us during the Conference and all attendees for their participation.
